FamilySearch describes Dohman as an Americanized form of German Dohmann and of Dutch or German Dohmen. The established Dohmann Genealogy Pages also document Doman and Domann in early German records.
Spelling is a clue, not a conclusion
Clerks wrote names by ear. Families adapted spellings after migration. Printed records, church registers, gravestones, and official documents may disagree—even for the same person.
That is why this archive will compare dates, places, spouses, children, occupations, churches, and original sources before joining two records into one family line.

No medieval or immigrant connection will be presented as direct ancestry until the intervening generations are documented.
